SEO Myths regarding to Website’s URL. Some people say that it would be better if the structure of the URL / Permanent Link is short. Such as: domain.com/postname
The goal is that search engines can read the entire URL, because of worry about if the URL is too long such as:
domain.com / year / month / day / postname
The URL can not be wholly read. And as a result, the blog post can not be indexed maximally. Is this myth true??
And the answer is, NO! It’s not true.
In the case of google search engine, Matt Cutts, one of google engineer emphasized that the webmaster doesn’t need to worry about a deep link (long URL), because it doesn’t mean anything in front of the google eyes.
He said that the intent of using short URL, is more to facilitate the visitors to remember the link rather than facilitate the search engine robots.
