Google launched a new application to help the users organize and customize their voice communication last year. It was an advanced version of GrandCentral that has been in effect since July 2007. But, GrandCentral was finally shut down on September 15th, 2009 and the users were recommended to shift to the newly developed application. It is an online application that provides free service for voice call management. The service will automatically be transformed the voice massage to email massage or text massage. It also provide transcript of the incoming email on phone cell or computer. It is predicted that the new application will enliven the use of mobile phone throughout the world. Even though when it was firstly launched, the service was limited in the United States, many countries has benefitted from the service right now.
Moreover, the users can easily use Google Voice mail to make international call with significantly lower rate. In addition to international calls and all of the GrandCentral features which it maintains, there are some other features and advantages of Google Voice. Firstly, it provides unlimited free calls and SMS with duration up to three hours in individual call. Secondly, call screening is a service that permits the users to block calls or SMS from some specified numbers or unknown numbers. This service is also supported with an automated identification request for blocked numbers. Thirdly, the users can send, receive, and store SMS online and retrieve them online; on the other hand, the users can view the web inbox from a mobile phone after they were sent notification on the incoming massage.
The fifth feature of the Google Voice is that the users can organize the contacts, specify them with certain incoming calls. This allows you prioritize certain group and block incoming calls or massage from a certain group during busy hours (for instance). In addition, all of incoming and out coming calls can be recorded and archived in the phones and can be retrieved anytime either from the phone or from the web. When the users want to change their number, no fee is required. Actually, Google Voice is under continuous development. Therefore, there are still some limitations to its widespread use. Firstly, the users are not likely to use short codes, thus limiting its ability to use mobile device for certain social networks, such as Facebook, Myspace, or Twitter.Secondly, in regard to its relatively limited coverage, even the USA users have limited ability to send international SMS. Thirdly, some sources also state that Google Voice rejects iPhone apps since it is reported to have replaced some features of iPhone.
