Clean Up the WordPress Database. Let’s clean up our wordpress database from the unnecessary things! First of all, the database can be told as a collection of data stored and organized so that data can be retrieved or used easily and efficiently. The database is very important, because all parts of our blog is stored here, such as articles, comments, category, tags and others. Therefore our wordpress database should always be cleaned from the things that are not useful. It is to optimize the working point of ours blog database.
To clean up the database from some useless data, I usually use the Wp-Cleanup plugin. This plugin has several functions that I think is good enough and I feel quite satisfy with the result. Although the rating and the download statistics is still slightly but you should not worry because I’ve already tried and proven the functions that offered by this plugin.
Here are the functions of this plugin:
- Deleting revisions of the article (Post Revision).
- Deleting all the spam comments.
- Deleting the comments that were not approved. This option still includes spam comment that’s not filtered by the anti-spam.
- Removing the unused tags.
- Optimizing MySQL by removing the unused empty tables.
- Removing unused meta post.
Installation mode:
- Download the plugin here.
- Upload to your hosting then activate the plugin.

- Go to Settings -> Wp-Cleanup.
- On this page you could select some option that you want to remove. After that, you just have to click on the “Cleanup the selected items!” button.
I think it would be better if you use this Wp-Cleanup plugin once or twice in a week, so that your database is not full of things that are not useful. And don’t forget to backup your database first before you use this plugin, just in case you need some data back.
