Mistakes Related with the Design
- Using standard/default blog theme
The first time you install your wordpress CMS, you would get the default blog theme from wordpress. It would be the white page with blue header or picture of trees for the latest version. If you’re still using the default theme now, please change it! Change your header image to make your blog unique. At least to differentiate your blog with another.
- Changing the theme too often
It’s not really good if you change your theme too often. People will think that your blog is not finish yet.
- Using no “Read More”
Every time I’m doing blogwalking. I found so many blog that display the whole blog post on the homepage without using “Read More”. If the blog post is short, maybe it won’t be a problem. But if the blog post is quite long and there are more than 10 posts on the homepage, I think it would make the blog post become difficult to read. Or at least become uncomfortable to be read. To add “Read More” to your post, click the tools icon that appears like this

- Using no “Category Widget”
The function of Category widget is to allow visitors to find articles in the same category, also provide SEO benefits, ie as a text link.
- Excessive accessories
Blogs are more beautiful if you have the accessories like a clock, a map of visitors, pagerank, last visitors, or others. But if you’re using Excessive accessories, it would make your blog become so heavy to be loaded. And visitors will not like this kind of situation.
